Meerkats
The meerkat or meerkat (from Swahili, Cat Rock) (Suricata suricatta) is a small mammal, a member of the mongoose family (Herpestidae), inhabiting the region of the Kalahari Desert and the Namib in Africa. The fur is light brown, short parallel stripes of darker color on the back. They are known to stand on their hind legs in search of prey watching or to avoid being caught by predators.
