Archipelago of San Simon

Set consists of four islands: San Bartolome, San Antonio, St. Simon and St. Norbert, the most relevant are San Antonio and San Simon. From Sxii until XIX, was used by various religious orders suffered multiple naval raids. From 1883-1927 works as Lazaretto. In 1936 it was turned into a prison for Republicans, spending more than 4,000 political prisoners. In 1948 the islands are for shelter Guard Franco, falleciento in 1950 in a shipwreck 43 people. From 1955 to 1963 is converted to an orphanage for children of sailors. In the nineties saw the restoration of the whole environment. The island has been declared a Historic and Site of Community
