Sculpture opened on October 17, 2005. It was sculpted in bronze by José Vigo Molars and donated to the city, by the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Pontevedra.
It is a tribute to the city of Vigo done Jules Verne (on the centenary of his death), for his mention of this city in his book "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Represents the French writer sitting on the tentacles of a sea monster or giant squid.
